Meet Trystan Merhi

To Do More Home Services is owned and operated by Trystan Merhi.

When you book an estimate, Trystan is the one who comes out. When the work starts, he’s the one doing it. There’s no rotating crew, and no gap between the person who made you a promise and the person responsible for keeping it.

When a job calls for a second set of hands, that help comes from someone Trystan has worked alongside for ten years and who works to the same standards. Not a subcontractor pulled off a list, and not someone you’re meeting for the first time on your own kitchen floor.

Trained on car finishes. Applied to your cabinets.

Trystan was born in Hershey and has lived in Northampton County since first grade. He worked on a farm, then trained in collision repair at Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School, the vo-tech in Bethlehem Township, minutes from where he works today.

That background isn’t a detour from painting. It’s the reason the finish work comes out the way it does.

Auto body is the least forgiving finish work in the trades. A car panel has nowhere to hide. Every sanding scratch you missed, every speck of dust in the air, every inconsistent spray pass shows up in the reflection, and the customer inspects it in direct sunlight. You learn surface preparation to a standard ordinary painting never asks for, because anything less is visible from across a parking lot.

Kitchen cabinets are that same problem, indoors. Doors get handled every day, seen from a foot away, and lit from every angle. It’s the one part of a painting job where rushed prep or a brush-marked finish is impossible to hide. It’s also the part of the work that first pulled Trystan in.

Why “To Do More”

For years Trystan ran jobs as a foreman for a painting company here in the Valley. He was good at it, and he was boxed in by it. He delivered other people’s work to a standard he didn’t get to set, with no room to do more for the homeowner than the job ticket allowed.

He deliberated for years before leaving. In 2024 he started To Do More Home Services.

The name is a plain statement of the reason: to do more than the role allowed. To build something around exceptional service, and to actually meet the people of the Lehigh Valley instead of working through someone else’s schedule.

How we work

We run on systems: a documented preparation sequence, defined product specifications, and a repeatable process that produces the same result on every job. Trystan performs the work himself on every project, start to finish.

Where a project needs additional help, it goes to a tradesman he has worked with for a decade, vetted and held to the same standards. Your house doesn’t get handed to whoever happened to be available that week.

The combination is deliberate. Systems are what make the result predictable. Knowing exactly who is in your home is what keeps it consistent.

Materials at cost, with no markup

Most painting companies mark materials up. We don’t. We pass them through at exactly what we pay.

Marking up materials quietly creates a reason to reach for the cheaper product, because the cheaper product earns more. We’d rather remove that incentive entirely. We charge for labor and for the systems behind it, so when we specify a premium Sherwin-Williams product, we’re specifying it because it’s right for the surface, not because it pays better.

You see what the materials cost. So do we.

We’ll tell you no

If you describe something you want and we know it won’t hold up, we’ll say so before the work starts rather than after. That might be a finish that won’t last on that surface, a color that won’t behave in that room’s light, or a shortcut that looks fine for a year and then doesn’t.

We’ve seen how those decisions age on other people’s projects, and we’ve seen homeowners regret them. Losing a job we couldn’t do properly costs less than finishing one we’re not proud of.

The job that explains the rest

A dentist in Easton had stain-grade cabinets and wanted them white.

Stain-grade is the hardest possible starting point. The open wood grain telegraphs straight through paint, and the factory finish has to be genuinely dealt with rather than painted over. He was particular. He’d looked hard at this kind of work before and knew exactly what a bad version of it looks like.

We finished in five days. He was blown away.

That’s the job that best explains what the collision repair training was actually for. More of it is on our portfolio page.
